Rossi injured at Assen?

Rossi injured at Assen?

MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi is feared injured after falling heavily during the first free practice session at Assen on Thursday morning.

The Camel Yamaha rider, who had rejuvenated his 2006 title hopes with two victories in a row prior to this weekend, fell from his factory M1 at a chicane early on in an extended, and rain-interrupted, session around the modified Dutch racetrack.

The Italian superstar is currently undergoing a full medical check to determine the extent of his injuries, with the first trackside reports suggesting a possible broken wrist as well as lesser chest and foot damage.

The seven-times world champion had closed the points gap from a low of 43 - after his two successive DNFs in China and France - to 29 behind Repsol Honda's Nicky Hayden prior to this weekend's eighth round of the 2006 championship.

More to follow...

No more injuries please

Pardon my ignorance but how is having an accident and getting injured "letting you down"? Does it require permission?

MOTOGP News Thursday, 22nd June 2006
Edwards leads Checa at Assen.

Colin Edwards has set the Thursday MotoGP free practice pace at Assen in the Netherlands, after a dramatic opening day at the Dutch TT.

But the biggest news was that seven-times world champion Valentino Rossi was fit to ride this afternoon, after being hospitalised in a heavy morning fall.

The Italian suffered hairline fractures to both his wrist and ankle in the high speed accident, plus lesser chest and elbow injuries, but walked into the Camel Yamaha pits just as the afternoon hour started and was soon back out on his factory M1.

However, Rossi was unsurprisingly feeling the effects of his injuries and only briefly broke into the top ten lap times, on his way to an eventual twelfth position - although only 1.3secs from the top.

OOOOOOOoooooooooo shit, I don't like the sound of this.

damnit when we set that bet I was thinking of throwing in a disclaimer that it's void if there's an injury, guess I shoulda done that. To late now tho, and it's early, might not miss the race.

HAIL TO THE KING!!
