Rubens Barrichello likely to retire after 2007

Barrichello likely to retire after 2007
Monday, 24 July 2006
Jul.24 (GMM) Rubens Barrichello has acknowledged that retirement from formula one is 'closer than ever'. Behind Michael Schumacher, the 34-year-old Brazilian is the most experienced driver on today's grid, and with nearly 230 grands prix is third on the list of most experienced of all time. But Barrichello, who joined Honda this year after six years at Ferrari, admitted to 'Auto Bild' that he is not likely to trouble Riccardo Patrese's all-time record of 256 race starts. That gives him less than two seasons left in F1. ''I love this sport,'' Rubens said, ''but I do not want to break Patrese's record. It will be one of the saddest decisions of my life.''

This is seriously one of the nicest, kindest guys that ever has been involved with F1, he's been a favourite of mine for a very long time now so when he retires, it will mark the end of an era as Rubens was Senna's protegé.

Yeah I agree, Rubens is a nice guy, always has that smile. I hope he comes here in the States and race Indy/CART after he's done with F1.
