Max Biaggi to Suzuki World Superbike.

The following is from the Alstare Corona Suzuki team...

After months of waiting, the agreement between Max Biaggi and Francis Batta has finally been signed.

Max, a rider who needs no introduction, is more motivated and fitter than ever. He has already asked to test his new Suzuki GSX-R1000 K7 as soon as possible. "Today is a good day,” he said. “I have always followed the World Superbike Championship and my view is that it is an extremely exciting championship. I have always admired the riders taking part in the World Superbike Championship and I value the class’s technical level.

I have known Francis Batta and his family for years and have a lot of respect for him as he has devoted so much time and attention to promoting the profile of the World Superbike Championship. I am back in competitive sport and I am happy to be riding for an official team - Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra. I am as determined as ever, and really want to win the Superbike World Championship. This is probably the biggest challenge of my sporting career.”

Francis Batta has always wanted to work with Max Biaggi. He said, “Max Biaggi is definitely a valuable addition to my team and to the world of Superbike. He will have the best possible staff at his disposal. I have enormous trust in his capabilities and know that his desire is to become the first Italian rider to win the World Superbike Championship.”

Paolo Alberto Flammini, CEO of FGSport, showed huge enthusiasm when hearing the news of Max Biaggi’s arrival. As soon as Francis Batta told him that the agreement had been signed, he declared: “The arrival in the Superbike World Championship of one of the greatest riders in the history of motorcycle racing proves the tremendous fascination the series has for motorcycle fanatics. Furthermore, Max’s participation is the result of a collaboration between Team Alstare and FGSport. We are convinced that he will help boost public interest in the World Superbike Championship. His presence will also improve the competitiveness and spectacle which make the World Superbike Championship one of the most exciting series in the world today

sweet, I'm anxious to see how he does, and this means he's not teamed with Garry at Ilmore, which is good news for garry.

it's sad tho, he belongs in GP, period, he's got so much talent.

a classic example tho, of that "it's not what you say, it's how you say it."

as much of a force as alex barros was?

max will struggle, but even i admit it will be cool to see him back on a bike. if ducati gets their 1200cc bike next year, no one else will be winning, especially if bayliss is on it.

Alex needs some factory support to be competative, but odds of him getting it are pretty damned low, seeing as IF he does well, it kinda hints that maybe somebody else shoulda won at the 8 hours in 2002.

My thoughts EXACTLY!

He is a great rider btu he is the first one to come up with an excuse as to why he isn't doing well.... and he blames everyone but himself.

contrary to popular belief he does blame himself often, just he never blames JUST himself.

one of his favourites was always "we wheren't able to find a good set-up for the bike and I wasn't comfortable on it" which can be interpreted in a couple ways.

The way the Rossi fans like to interpret it is "I told them what I wanted and they didn't do it."

Another way to interpret it is "I have no idea how to set a bike up for this track."

the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Biaggi, can't over compensate for the bikes weakness, so he blames the MFG.

Biaggi is a great rider he just has a poor attitude which is why I am not fond of him. He is too quick to blame others. This isn't the Skip Barber Motor series where every vehicle is set up exactly the same. Not everyone is going to start out on equal equipment.
It's up to the rider to tell management and the engineering staff (behind closed doors of course) exactly how the bike is handling. The engineers take it from there and try to improve the bike based on the feedback that the rider gives them.
Shitty feed back = shitty results.

You would never hear Loris say 1/10th of the bashing that Biaggi does.

Loris
Hopkins
Roberts
Checa
Tamada
Rossi

These guys have enough class and intelligence to know not to piss on their crew.
