back from the track now.
Spoke at length with MJ Boucher, she's a cool cat, busts ass at a dayjob to pay for it all, no factory support and since there's no Quebec round anymore her sponsors are few and far between.
Chatted with Jordan's mum a bit regarding Peris too, dumb kid was doing a burnout on his victory lap. The day after he gets knocked back to 9th when he should have had pole, because his bike ran out of fuel on the dyno. Slow learner I guess. Martin actually turned a tire down far enough that it read over the hp limit. Atleast that's what Scotty Miller was claiming, whether it's true or not... I have my doubts, I think it was over anyways. But whatever, c'est la vie.
Talked to Steve "Squiddy" Crevier for a second, bitching about there not being a round on the west coast anymore, and Calgary likely gone too. I asked if he thought Mission would ever be able to host a SBK event and he said "community noise issues aside, there's not enough run-off, and they can't extend the runoff 'cause it's blocked by the bush, the bush is holding back the river from eroding away the whole f*cking track, so that can't go either." I asked him how he felt about the Buell and he basicly said that being down 50hp at this track, you're fucked nomatter how good your set-up was, and the bike has set-up issues ontop of being down 50hp, faaaaaaaantastic. He was doing a damned good job of "park it on the apex then tractor it off the corner" tho, but still, asoon as you get to Andretti straightaway (1km long and uphill, 10% grade at places, I wind the shit out of myself just hiking up it.)
I also asked him how he felt about Jordan likely taking the all time superbike win record from him this year, he said "I don't care about wins, never have cared about wins, I don't even know how many I have" (I told him here, it's 26) "Jordan does, he's that kind of guy, and power too him, I'm just not the kind of guy that really cares about this "all time" stuff, someday it'll be beaten." that actually made me say something along the lines of "that's a really west coast attitude" which brought us around to the whole track thing. Squiddy's from Vancouver, for anybody that didn't know that. Guess I should have mentioned that at the beginning. He's also about the size of Dani Pedrosa, I swear to god he's not up to my nipple, not by a long shot.
Also talked to Brett for a second, poor guy bruised a lung on Saturday. Anyhow I asked him if he's got WSBK aspirations, he got all misty eyed and said "I'd love to" I asked him about GP he said "that too" I asked which he'd prefer and he said "I dunno, I'm still young and it's a long ways in the future."
He's 17 and I think it's closer than he thinks if he keeps on the learning curve he's on, altho he might be in trouble for a GP ride, he's only a couple of inches shorter than me, i'm 6'5. I don't know forsure but I'd not be surprised if he's 6'1.
perhaps SBK's is the better path to pursue, much as I'd love to see a Canadian in GP (other than "I was winning races on a yellow and purple bike while you where in diapers" DuHammel, who's lived in Vegas the last 10 years.)
