I was surprised to see DeAngelis so high in FP1, Casey's clearly found his mojo, and Ben dropped 1.1s during his lunch break.

That's definitely a learning drop. Bet he cuts nearly a second tomorrow....but he'll still be off the pace. Good to see him adapting well.

I keep hearing that Nick and Vale had an "on-track" discussion. Curious as to what that was about.

another second would put him in the mid-pack hunt, aswell as in the hunt for Vermulean.

the KR factory is shut down as of this weekend.

End of an era, privateers can't make it in GP anymore.

No idea, I wish I could watch that stuff. Do you have Eurosport or access to it? I am trying to find it streaming online so I can hopefully catch the morning practice and qualifying tomorrow

supposedly there's a way to stream it, but I've never figured it out. You can subscribe to motogp.com tho and watch it live that way.

Damn Nicky is kicking ass... let's see if he can follow this up with a good race finally... That would make so many people here happy.

I think Ben not being in last is pretty good for the first time on the bike and the improvement from FP1 to FP2 is impressive and shows with a little more time he might be up there?

It will be interesting for sure.

to put it in perspective, 1 more improvement like Ben had yesterday, and he'll be crawling up CV's ass on the same bike, and CV was f*cking near WSBK champ.

Qualifying was wet with a lightly drying track at the end.
Stoner impressive during the whole session. Toseland getting the nerves while tryin gto impress his fellow country men? Hayden back where he belongs or just a continuation of his qualify good race bad syndrome?

Wet or dry, I'm impressed that Ben Spies is ahead of many others. Not bad for first time on track and bike he doensn't know well and familiar with.

good god, I just watched the Q, Stoner's a man on fire, there's no stopping him. Same old "set pole, come in and have a drink, hang out in the pit box, till somebody comes along that's getting close, then go out and completely destroy them all on your first hotlap."

the absolute killer is him looking at Melandri as he goes by, taking a second mid-corner to stare him in the eye, then disappear into the sunset shaking his head at how easy he went by.

daaaaaaaamn, "The TeamMate Thing."

Toseland toils as Stoner claims pole
Wet weather ruined James Toseland's qualifying as reigning MotoGP champion Casey Stoner claimed pole position.

Toseland had a nightmare day aboard his Tech 3 Yamaha as he crashed three times in treacherous conditions to record his worst qualifying position of his MotoGP career to date - 16th place at the head of the final row of the grid.

The 27-year-old slid off the track during morning practice before incorrect tyre selection with only five minutes of the afternoon qualifying session remaining led to him uncharacteristically high-siding twice in one lap. Valentino Rossi was second and Chris Vermeulen was third.

He said: "It's obviously hugely disappointing to have my worst qualifying session of the season at my home Grand Prix.

"This weekend was always going to be difficult and the bad weather has just added to that. I've got a tough job ahead of me on Sunday and a lot of hard work, so I'm hoping for some dry weather."

Over 80,000 British fans are expected at Donington for Sunday's raceday where Marlboro Ducati rider Casey Stoner will be the man to beat.

Stoner is 50 points behind series leader Rossi but after leading the field comfortably during Friday's practice showed he was just as capable in the wet by taking pole in one minute 38.232 seconds.

Rossi was second on his Fiat Yamaha in 1:38.881 with Suzuki's Vermeulen third and Americans Nicky Hayden and Colin Edwards rounding out the top five.

In the 125cc class the rain prevented the field from improving on their times from Friday meaning that 15-year-old Scott Redding will start his first home Grand Prix from fourth place.

Fellow British teenagers Bradley Smith and Danny Webb will start from 12th and 14th on the grid respectively.

Damn, wish I could have seen that. I don't think I am going to sign up for the MotoGP website until next season rolls around

Check this out... I'm sure they will take it off youtube soon though. Looks like it was a rough day for some. (Obviously some of you have seen it that were able to watch qualifying)
