saxonring thread

welcome to the ring of the saxons. Here's 800gp FP2 times

1 Casey Stoner 1:21.582
2 Alex De Angelis 1:21.993
3 Colin Edwards 1:22.463
4 Valentino Rossi 1:22.796
5 Jorge Lorenzo 1:22.894
6 Shinya Nakano 1:22.922
7 Dani Pedrosa 1:22.974
8 Nicky Hayden 1:22.975
9 Andrea Dovizioso 1:23.093
10 Randy De Puniet 1:23.116
11 Sylvain Guintoli 1:23.209
12 Loris Capirossi 1:23.274
13 Toni Elias 1:23.366
14 Chris Vermeulen 1:23.411
15 Anthony West 1:23.452
16 Marco Melandri 1:23.698
17 James Toseland 1:23.864

Observations: Stoner rules, he crashed in FP2, unhurt. It was at the top of the hill, nasty little place that.

Good for Alex, showing some stuff, we'll see if he holds it together in the race.

Lorenzo maybe finding his balls? or just a 250 track that suits his style? we'll soon see I guess.

Suzuki sucking donkey cock, wtf's going on there? I hope to god Spies doesn't get stuck on that thing.

Toseland firmly latched onto the hind tit. So much for him being the "A" rider. Maybe Colin should go back to WSBK and bag a title or 3 before he retires?

I have been quietly enjoying Colin's year. All that talk last year was the Toseland would come on and school the old boy. In his defense Toseland made an impressive start, but that is about it.

He's running around as if he is towing his damn Piano along. I can't say that I am not surprised. I was in the opinnion he should have stayed in WSBK another year or two. But it is hard to pass up a GP gig, for sure.

Nevertheless, Colins exp with Michelin is showing, me thinks. With Hopper out, he is my pick for Laguna

Yeah... Colin had a very bad start on the 1st Laguna GP. But he did charge on to 2nd passing Rossi & was catching Nicky... I still think Colin can pull a win there.

hmmm, I hadn't thought about it seriously.

I actually picked him to win the first "new" laguna GP. Up until that point I think only 1 non-american had won there, and only once had a non-Yamaha won, so the Yank on the Yammer was a pretty safe bet (I thought) evidently not.

He's fast as f00k there when stuff goes his way. Depending on how the Suzuki is I think Vermulean is a threat for a Suzuki's first dry weather win in ages there. That kid's got the Laguna Mojo. Sad for Spies to have to run against the Vermin at Laguna for his home GP, he'll be expected to beat Vermin there 'cause it's his home track, but realistically, Vermin's won more races at Laguna than Spies has.

Marco likes the pllace, but he's lost his balls... Casey's a man on fire, recently reclaimed his mojo. I'd have to call Casey for the win, Pedrosa and Edwards to fill out the podium. Altho that's next weeks problem innit?

Stoner did great, no doubt. But he did benefit from the Americans messing everything up for themselves...

So yeah... I am picking Colin over the entire field. If he doesn't blow the start and gets out in front, Colin can def check out @ Laguna

Yes he did very well there and might be a front runner again... it would be a surprise for most people if he does pull off his first GP win. That would be awesome.

i think we needed more friday crashes... a sign of everyone pushing so hard to try and get in the stoner ballpark, or a sign that hard tyres give shitty feedback?

I just finished watching the fp2 coverage... as above, Casey smashed them, looks very ominous (multiple laps under the outright qualifying record from 2006, .7 of a second under the 800cc previous record).

One thing stuck out in my mind was the commentators (Eurosport) mentioning Luis D'antin resigning from the satelitte Ducati squad. They dared not air the rumours of why, for fear of defamation, and suggested viewers look it up for themselves on the 'net.

Anyone know what this is all about?

I'm interested also to find out what the deal is with D'antin. Maybe Gustav'll have the inside scoup.

Stoner is back on top form... Doesn't look like Rossi can hang with Stoner on the new rubber when Stoner is at his best... I hope he can close the gap to Stoner significantly before race day. I'm getting tired of waiting for this battle already.

They actually have new electronics for this week end but they won´t run it as far as Rossi said.

Well Of course we all know the Duc is still about +10-15MPH faster then the M1 as well. It's the technical tracks that Rossi can take advantage of his riding abilities.

Wouldn't that be this track????

This track has no big straighaway advantage for the Duc

Change your sig already and concede to the power of the Stoner/Duc
