Nicky is out for Brno...

This must be really pissing off the HRC overlords...

Hayden manager comments on American´s Czech absence
Thursday, 14 August 2008

Phil Baker, manager of Repsol Honda rider Nicky Hayden, has given motogp.com an update on the 2006 World Champion´s foot injury after the news this week that he is to miss out at Brno.

An absentee from the Cardion ab Grand Prix Ceske republiky due to a knock on his heel at the X Games Supermoto event in the U.S. on 2nd August, Nicky Hayden is highly disappointed to be missing round twelve of the MotoGP season.

His manager Phil Baker told motogp.com in Brno, `He´ll be back for Misano. He is incredibly frustrated that he can´t be here as it is one of his favourite tracks and he had a good podium here last year. It was just one of those little incidents, he didn´t actually crash but he cracked a bone in his heal where a lot of weight is applied.´

Hayden had visited Dr Arthur Ting and got the opinion of other specialists before the decision not to travel to the Czech Republic was made this week.

`It was felt best,´ continued Baker. `I think if you look down the paddock at the number of riders who have come back too soon and their injuries have been prolonged because of that, it was felt by the doctors, by Nicky, by ourselves that it was much better for him to give himself an extra period to let the injury heal.´

Asked whether Hayden´s 2009 MotoGP plans will be confirmed in the near future Baker replied, `Things are developing, they are coming along, though there is still nothing to announce to the press and make public at this stage. The negotiations are ongoing and we are gradually getting there. There is some interesting stuff out there.´

The Czech contest will be the first race that Hayden has missed since the 2004 Portuguese round and in addition he also misses two days of important post-race testing to be held at Brno on Monday and Tuesday.

Even when he is at the race, NH is not really in the race

Sounds to me like he's just had enough of the shit .... bike, team, his own poor performance, whatever ... and is looking for ways to distance himself and pave the way for his departure.

hah, I've NOT forgotten his "I fell down and hurt myself so now I can't go fast!"

and I've not forgotten Troy Baylis's "Please Costa, just cut the finger off so I can go score some points in race 2!!!"

Or Mick Doohan trying to save that highside coming down thru Laguna T8 in '93, watching his leg bow out 30% of it's length when he tried to catch himself on it.

OK. I beg to differ. He is hard and wants to race but admits that his crashes have forced him to rethink his approach a bit.
He wanted to race at Catalunya but was sidelined by the doctor for example, whiney ass prima donna...

could be that you're right, god knows I hate the guy. Just strikes me that Mick was plenty scared of the NSR lots of times, and never let it stop him from going all out. I mean anybody that came to the 500's pretty much had a point where they where shaken up and scared of the things, and most didn't let it stop them. Shit even Tady Okada had a spell where he was scared of the bike, but he was still dicing for the podium even when he was terrified of it. And no disrespect to Tady but he's not exactly the typical "hard man" I mean he hauls his wife and kids around the world for emotional support.

Lorenzo didn´t look scared to me going up the inside of Dovizioso at Laguna seconds before the grip was lost at the back and he was airborne. He went for the podium. Me like.

I seem to remember him saying he was surprised to come out alive when he followed Hayden's line thru the corkscrew. I'd say that's scared. Me no likey.
