Race report LMS 9/9.

Yesterday my Roadracing Club had one of two annual Club Races. A very easy going event instead of one of the regular practise days. Four classes ( 125 Junior, 125-400+singles up to 700cc, 600cc and 1000cc) and only club members are allowed to start.
As usual I was badly prepared in all kinds of ways but I managed to get down in time to get the bike out and find out that the battery was flat. I manage to get borrow a charger and while I am waiting a change a fuels hose and some other small stuff. When the battery is fine I start the bike up and she starts like a dream. Last time I had serious problems with the clutch slippin so I had changed all the internal parts in order to get rid of it.
The weather was fine with some sun and about 13 degrees celsius. I entered in the 125-400 cc class that had a wide variety of different bikes. Two Honda RS125R with small kids on them, two 250 GPs with older men on ( me and my buddy Teddy), Two KTM Supermotards, two Aprilia RS250s, one Supermono (RGV frame with Husaberg engine) and finally the hero of the day with a Yamaha RD350.

One QP of 20 minutes for each class and the first few laps I ride like a tit so I enter pitlane. Get rid of some tape from the radiator, curse a bit and get out again. The clutch is still slippin a bit but my riding is ok but slow.
I end up fifth with a 1.07.2 lap time. Decent but not good.
While I wait for the race I change the clutch springs and get help adjusting it some more.
The nice and friendly atmosphere in the paddock is great and I always have a great time talking to friends.

Race time and I feel good and confident - I am all set to have fun and get the bike to the finish ( my six latest entries have ended in five DNFs and one DNS so I need a result.. )

As always I do a terrible start and am third last in the first corner. But this time I wonīt mess about so I pass three guys straight away. At the end of the first lap I pass one more entering the first corner. Unfortunately I get a bit hold up by one of the Supermotards and I almost end up hitting his back wheel in one corner where he surprises me with a much slower mid corner speed and I have to take avoiding action. I get passed by two guys, among them eventual winner who did an even worse start than me but I use the engine to pass all three of them down the straight. I put my head down and actual do some decent laps and manage to keep the young gun Nicklas Krey behind me for some time. He passes me but I repass, more HP in my 250 than his 125.
Eventually he makes a pass stick and I manage to keep him close for a while but he takes inch by inch. In the meantime my friend Teddy crashes from a healthy lead and I am third. My lack of training shows when I start making mistakes and feeling stiffer in my arms. I have a good cushion to the fourth placed rider so I lower my times. On the last lap I almost fucks it up but manage to recover and can take the flag.

Great time, I finish, the bike works all the way, I set a new PB with 0.9 secs ( 1.05:286) and get to bring some silverware back home to my oldest son. My "Piston Cup" gets his sign of approval so I am well happy!
Too bad the seasons over.

If you are looking for a bike the TZ250 Racing, The Ultimate TZ Racing Resource. site has all the info and expertise you need. Plus all bikes you can get hold of, more or less, in the states.

they're not just a motorcycle tho. When you get a TZ you get a full spares kit, ready to race. You couldl take the crate to the track and be instantly ready to podium with it right out of the box.

Yeah I was just looking at that, that is pretty awesome. I wish the smaller cc bikes got more exposure here in the US. I know we have some organizations that race them, just not very mainstream here unfortunately.

The USGPRU is doing a great job with their series and I think that the 125cc class will be at the AMA finale at Laguna Seca.

Yeah. That was great fun, and I wonīt say that it was only eleven starting and nine to reach the chequered flag.
