Question MotoGP » Ideal Restart (i.e. Indy)

I was wondering how come MotoGP doesn't adapt the rolling start method like F1? I think this is a lot more fair and safer for the riders, another sprint start would be very risky too.

What is a spring start? (When MotoGP begins it's first race???)

Or do we really want to know???

In conditions like Indy it be a bad idea.

You have 19 riders going a set speed on a wet straight then when the green flag is dropped they hit the throttle only to have the rear spin an possible highsiding the rider.

Yeah Indy is definitely a bad idea, I was just giving an example, I mean in any race with a restart.

However, in wet condition, I still believe a rolling start is safer than a sprint start.

I think it would be a good idea, if there is no tropical depression near the race track.

IŽd like them to bring back the old start where the riders would have to jump start their bikes. Would make for some interesting scenes, like Elias jump starting his Duc.

ya, it just kinda brought back flashbacks tho, that whole transition happened right as I was starting to watch. I think the first year I watched intermittently was still lemans start, and the following year I was more serious about it it was clutch starts.

I mean, it's the way they did it then and you have to respect it, but I'll be a happy man if I never have to see a lemans start ever again, that shit was just too insane. They say Lawson would q on pole and would have to talk to guys a full 4-5 rows behind him to get it sorted what side of him they where gonna go around, from that far back they're doing what, 120kph? more maybe, as they buzz past him while he's jumping around on the bike, holy fuck.

Part of why I'm not so sure on the 3 bike grid too, kinda safer 'cause there's more gaps to go thru, but not as safe 'cause when there's a problem the guys are coming at you from further back, coming at you faster. God forbid somebody stalled the bike on the front row.

HAIL TO THE KING!!

I don't think that skinny Rossi will be able to push and jump start that M1, so I think it's a bad idea. Oh yeah, Pedrosa, too.
