well every rider will still be developing independantly, the bridgestones that Hopkins uses are very different from the Bridgestones Casey uses, just as an example. For a real spec tire you gotta go the WSBK way and say "here's the 4 tires, a soft, a medium, a hard, and a wet. Have at it."
Not having riders develope along their own ways.
Albeit the black helo michelins aren't as prevalent as they used to be, but there's still a lot of possibility for the tire manufacturer to favour one guy over the other, develope his tires better/faster than the guy sucking the hind tit.
