Spies first outing on the new R1.

Unfortunately I havenīt been able to find any times from Spies or Sykes.
They will continue testing today tuesday, Biaggi will be on the new Aprilia as well but I do not know if nakano will be there as well.

That's my hope too.

As of Tuesday he was fastest of the day in the test, but still "a tick" off of Nori's racetimes, according to Deano.

He seems to be gelling with the tires pretty well, which was a big concern, I was worried that maybe him and Mat were getting black helo dunflops in the AMA.

HAIL TO THE KING!!

The laptimes according to superbikeplanet

Lap times were as follows:

Troy Bayliss 1:43.7

Nori Haga 1:43.9

Ben Spies 1:44.1

Spies comments.

"I'm pretty happy," Spies said after testing finished today. "The bike is working well and this day has answered so many questions for me. It's a wonderful motorcycle and the team is just great. I had some questions about the Pirellis but they are good as well, whether they're new or used, they work great."

If the times are correct.
I said form the start that it was a smart move by Spies and I am more certain about that now, and even smarter by Yamaha Motor Italia. What the heck was Suzuki and the others thinking about?

it would seem that suzuki had no say in the matter... spies stated in the latest issue of road racing world "that he wont stay with suzuki, and he's unhappy that the suzuki factory bosses chose veteran Loris Capirossi over him for their 2009 motogp line-up"

besides the exhaust i think it looks hot and no one is going to leave that stock anyway. I do think yamaha is kinda stuck in that they nailed the styling so well with the 04-06 that anything they do wont look as good

Here's pullin for Ben tomorrow. It's in his hands now. Time to show the haters what the reigning AMA champ can do to a WSBK grid.

dunno about that. the current M1 looks far better (IMHO) than the 04-06 R1.

not really sure why they keep sticking with the undertail exhaust.

It makes me wonder if it's because the new R1 is really that much better or is it because spies is doing so well so soon.

I guess it will take a little time for this to be answered, either way I'm very happy to see them both (the bike and rider) doing so well already.

I now have another Yami guy to root for.

Probably a combination.
The new bike is very good, the team is very good ans Spies is also very good.
