i hit the ground hard

so i was at the track this weekend getting ready for the usgpru event at jennings in early april and I got taken out by some bone head on an r6 at about 120mph. Amazingly besides a couple bruises im not hurt!!

At jennings turn three is a 1 line quick kink that is taken wide open at the top of fourth gear. You have to hit the apex or you end up in the dirt on the exit.

Its the second session on sunday all my new lines i worked on on saturday are clicking and the body is loose after the first session and im starting to turn up the heat. My goal for the weekend was a 122 and my second lap was a 124.2. I come out of two im tucked behind the shield and I flick it into 3 and just before I get to the apex I get smacked. Im instantly on the ground and as im sliding acroos the pavement before i get to the dirt I see a yellow bike with a rider with his legs off the pegs. I hit the dirt and start rolling, and rolling, and tumbeling, I think im almost stoped and the top of my head smacks the ground hard and then i tumble some more. I come to a stop and im affraid to do a body check I felt my head and left hand hit the ground hard and im afaid my hand is rebroken and my neck is fugged up but after a minute of sitting there and doing sytem checks and moving everything I decide im ok. I jump up and start screaming at no one wtf its a f'n track day where did he think i was going. I see my bike and it is a mess, fairings ripped off, pipe bent at 90 degrees, radiator destroyed, of coarse reasets and clip ons broke now im really pissed. The cornerworker gets there and im screaming at him that the f'n idiot that hit me needs to be shot. He calmly states I understand you are pissed but most people i pick up after a crash in 3 are not walking around. This kinda snaps me out of it and i think about my dad and my 5 year old daughter in the pits. This really snaps me out of it and I ask them to announce 442 is ok over the pa. which they did.

i get back to the pits and take off my gear. boots, hemet and leathers are fugged up but they did there job. I chucked the boots and helmet and will have to send my brand new a star suit out for repair.

the guy appoliges but wouldnt admit he made a mistake. all of his friends after i left came over to me and said they have all been telling him what he did was stupid and impossable. I walked away from him when he started telling me i turned into him or else i was going to hit him and at this point the fingers on my left hand were already quite swollen.

I have a bruise on my forehead that i got through the helmet, my ring finger on my left hand is bruised, a bruise on my back shoulder, and right knee, thats it.

f'n amazing

im looking for bodywork and a radiator for the 125 but having a hard time finding it. I think i found another wide body kit in europe but i have to call and i can only find a new radiator $495, ouch. I now think its going to be impossable to make the usgpru race in april which ive been looking forward to since i got the bike.

so to say im bumming is an understatement, but i am so greatfull to be in one piece and for the fact that my daughter did not have to see me all messed up again.

Jesus christ man, you got my heart going there. I saw the post and all I could think was "not again!"

a custom rad can be ready for not much more than that and faaaast, not to mention some extra enthalpy.

The fairings I dunno, you see the odd set on tz250.com but I haven't checked lately. I'm sure somebody in USGPRU would be willing to sell or spot you a set tho, those bikes all come with spares.

You've got a spare pipe I assume?

HAIL TO THE KING!!

Yeah for real Dave...I was thinking the same as Jr. Glad to hear you were able to be the better man and walk away without decking the guy. Live to ride another day I guess is still better than not at all. Glad it wasnt more serious my friend.

i guess i could look into the custom radiator thing

i guess i could a post on the usgpru website but im not sure im willing to spend the coin it will take for me to make the race. Lots of other not so good stuff going on right now

Glad you're ok, man. Better to be able to walk away in disgust than to be hauled away on a stretcher.

Damn indeed. I don't know if I could have held it together after bonehead gave his apologies/version of what happened. You're a good man for not shutting his eye.
Glad that you made it out, bruised battered and able to ride again, soon as possible.

Most racers will always say it was not their fault.

Just glad to hear you are alright.

Bad to hear about your crash but happy that you are ok.

Seems like a universal thing with all two stroke guys as everyone seems to be willing to help each other out. Great stuff!

but is the guy that took him out a racer?

in the end it's always the guy doing the passing that has to make it clean. especially at a trackday. racing, there's a bit of a gray area but the same rule generally applies

Damn that sucks. Like everyone else said though, glad your ok. Bike is repairable/replaceable but you are not. Way to be the man and walk away as well. Must have been hard.

If it were me though I would have said.........."Why are you apologizing then if you feel it's not your fault?"

Hope you don't mind me asking but.......do you have any pics of the damage?
