Great for Hopkins to come to a very good team, albeit private. Johan "Stiggy" Stigefelt has proved he can put a very good team together and his good reputation in teh GP paddock shows as he has two former MotoGP riders and one former GP rider in his team.

How Hopkins will fare is anoteh rstory. I guess he will occasionally challenge for podiums but I doubt he will win more than maybe an odd race.

All things change bud. 10 years ago it would have been unreal to say that, then a couple of good years in 2000-2002 then off again. But WSBK is on the rise while GP is on the wane.

incredibly strong grid in WSBK, and this is only making it stronger.

I like Hopkins, but I'm not really expecting much. He's crashed his brains out too many times and I think the wave of "teenager with no sense" has passed him by. He's fast, but I seriously doubt that we'll see him battle for the win anywhere this year.

You'd think he'd be competitive but I feel the same way; i just think he's had so many years of poor performances compounded by injuries and high expectations that he's forgotten how to be truly competitive. I said it at the time and I'll say it again now - jumping from Suzuki to Kawi when he did was one of the worst decisions he could have possibly made. I'll bet he's back in AMA within two seasons.

IMO you have to be willing to take chances... you only know you are right in hindsight and IIRC, your opinion was based on a lack of faith in Kawasaki's performance and not because you knew then Kawasaki would drop out of racing due to the economy.

The way I see it... Kawasaki's performance may have well been on track... Melandri whooped on the Suzuki boys last round.
