he sucks, and he always has.

I'm surprised to see Capirossi behind Vermin, it'll be interesting to see how that plays out in the race, it's been a hell of a long time since Capper wasn't on the box here.

sucks bigtime about Kallio.

Congrats to Stoner's team for what they got with no pre-season testing.

Did Valentino get any pre-season testing in on the Yamaha?

No surprise really. Nobody but Stoner has been fast on the Duc in the last few years. I am a fan of Nicky's, but maybe he'd be better off in WSBK.

I'm hoping Nicky sorts his shit out... and soon.
He didn't do too bad in the wet times. I know you guys look down on wet weather specialists, but IMO there is no better equalizer... the nearest thing to an IROC type race.

Don't think so... give it a try yourselves

Having posted by far my personal best result in a wet race (a mere 17th in a National Swedish/Nordic championship 250 cc race) I have to say I disagree with you about the wet being such an equalizer. Why?
Because the wet weather makes it very unpredictable and if you are lucky you can get away with taking a lot of risks and on the other hand you can be taken out even at moderate speeds. It is more of a lottery than in the dry.
In teh dry the margin for taking risks, stepping far out of your comfort zone, is much smalelr and the greater riders are better at staying close but not stepping over the thin line.

Qualifying was rained out, so grid will be set by combined FP times, and since FP2 was wet, it essentially means it's set by FP1 times.
Warmup tomorrow has been extended from 20 to 40 minutes for some more track time.

Damn, that's two races in a row hampered by rain.... WTF...

and setting the grip by fp1 is nuts as well imo.

It's good for him though, starting from #5 isn't bad.... maybe he can hang up there for a podium for a change.

ya we'll see how it goes. I'm more wondering what Capirex is gonna come up with. It sure doesn't look like his 5 year Motegi podium streak is gonna continue at this rate. but I discounted him the last 2 years, and he fucking won in '07.

We'll see how it pans out I guess, I'm interested to see.

warmup underway, it's still pouring like crazy.

And apparently Gresini are too cheap to buy Tiger Toni a steering damper, either that or he had it dialed all the way out, 'cause he just had a headshaker that carried him all the way from the 90* right, thru the tunnel and into the chicane.

Just about halfway thru the session and Casey hasn't gone out yet, him, Suppo and Yamada san are telling jokes in the garage.

hard to say. But Rossi just went out, and Casey sat and watched, waited for Rossi to get his outlap in, then left, crossed the finish line on his hotlap just shortly before Rossi crossed on his second hotlap and Casey had gapped him by more than 8 seconds

I'd say the mind games are in full swing.

Sete is back

Casey smashed Rossi 3 times, I was surprised. Rossi pulled in the 8 second gap, then Casey pulled out 5 more, Rossi made up about half of it and then Casey pulled out again to where he's at.

Gibbers was 3rd when he crossed, as always tho there was a last lap fluster.

Spoiler:

125s
Iannone
Simon
Espargaro
Bradl
Marquez

Webb went out on a cut slick and lead for 10-11 laps before the track dried out enough that the guys on slicks came storming thru like water thru a submarine's screen door, Ken Roberts Sr style.

Smith with 1 to go I guess he decided he was hungry 'cause he pitched the bike sideways and ate his windshield. It was pretty brutal, could be that noone cranked up the steering damper when they were fucking with the set-up on the grid.

Update on Bradley, when he went thru the windshield he cut his throat, I guess it was pretty close to being a very serious thing, not far off the jugular, he's all stitched up and in a neck brace like Chris Reeve for now.

250 results:
Spoiler:

Bautista
Aoyama (h)
Pasini
Some greasy Hungarian lover of Bigas
Debon

Simoncelli managed to flatten a tire, by the time he got it swapped he was down nearly 2 laps. He went back out so that he could have a chance to fuck his wrist up some more and not score any points. Costa was not impressed.
