WSBK Donington ***Spoilers***

WSBk back in action at one of my favourite tracks, I haven´t raced my bike there but I have actually taken my mini-moto down the main straight and Craner Curves.

Spies is back to a track he knows since his firts wild card from last year. Blake Young will replace Fonsi Nieto who replaced Neukirchner at Alstare Suzuki.

Local wildcards are Leon Camier and James Ellison on the Airwaves Yamahas as well as Simon Andrews on the MSS Colchester Kawasakis. Especially Camier could end up on the podium after his impressive run of wins in BSB.

was hoping to see more out of Blake, but it's his first session so I'll cut him some slack.

wow spies wins race 1 haga 3 now in race 2 spies has got a big gap with 7 laps left and haga hit the ground ... by my calculations its a 14 point championship!!!!!

now haga has to actually beat ben straight up which i think he has only done once this year?? I am excited for ben but part of me cant believe haga has a good chance of not winning the championship again

ya 14 point championship.

Holy fuck it's not over yet.

I feel bad for Haga, but seriously, the guy is just destined not to win it ever. I feel bad for him but he's no less a champion in my mind.

i second that and being somewhat of a spies fan id be happy to see him bag the championship in his 1st year and then move onto GP and see what he can do

Haga is hurt pretty bad, he has a broken bone in his hand which will require surgery. Also shoulder might need surgery.

He *might* have a fractured vertebre as well, but they are unsure if that is a new injury or old. If it is new, it will require surgery and he will be out for months, and the championship is over.

Either way, he will not be anywhere near 100% for Bruno. If he is riding it will just be to limit the points damage.

Sucks, I don't know who I want to win the championship more, Spies in his rookie season or finally Haga after all these years. What I do know though is I wanted it to be a good fight, not a win by default.

heal up nori!

So after all his tough talk in the British bike press Ellison failed to make any passes on Spies eh? No surprise there - the guy was shite in MotoGP too.
I really hope Nori can hang on for the title, I really feel it's his last chance at it and that Spies will have ample opportunity to bag it (if he doesn't go to GP) but it's starting to look pretty grim for Nitro. The broken bone could be a real hindrance for him as he's never ridden with a broken anything in all his years of racing. Psychologically that's gonna impact him too - his first broken bone as a result of a racing error.

It's his second, he broke an arm last year, right around miller IIRC. Didn't slow him down so much.

What was Ellison saying in the britpress?

Update on Nori

Quote:
Ducati Xerox have confirmed that Noriyuki Haga's suspected fractured vertebra could in fact be an injury from an earlier accident, a revelation that could well see him on the bike again by the next round at Brno.

Haga was airlifted to Derby Hospital following his vicious accident during the second World Superbike race of the day at Donington Park, with initial results in the medical centre showing a fracture to his T8 and T9 vertebrae.

However, a further CT scan suggests these may be remains of a previous accident instead, thus negating any need for an operation.

Nonetheless, Haga will still undergo an operation for a displaced fracture in his right wrist, while a suspected fracture in his shoulder has also been diagnosed.

"This is good news" said team manager Davide Tardozzi. "Of course it needs to be confirmed tomorrow, Monday. Nori will for sure undergo an operation on the ulna bone of his right forearm, because it is a displaced fracture and there is also a suspected fracture of the scapula (shoulder blade) bone. It is clear however that if he really doesn't need to have an operation to the vertebrae he could get away with a month's rest.”

I'm worried about Nori.

Just for the record guys, note how Biaggi's bike ran out of fuel. That's exactly the behaviour I expect when a bike runs dry, the sputter sputter, swish, go a bit <repeat>

That's decidedly NOT what happened to the R1 at Monza, which is why I firmly believe that wasn't a bike running out of fuel, it was something far more sinister.

Airwaves Yamaha man says he's going for it this weekend - team orders or no team orders

BEN SPIES won't be given the soft treatment by Airwaves Yamaha's BSB riders at this weekend's Donington World Superbikes round. Both James Ellison and Leon Camier publicly said that if there was a chance of passing Spies then they're both going for it.
The Brits admitted that they didn't want to hurt Yamaha's chances in the WSB (so no surprise there) but in the words of James Ellison: “If Ben leaves a bike-sized gap and I'm anywhere near it then I'm going through it.”

Must admit I'd forgotten about Haga breaking his arm.
Good call Jr.

If there is one thing you count on Haga doing it would be crashing when it matters. I know Haga is a like able guy and you guys certainly like him but at the end of the day crashed and crashed because of his own doing. If Spies wins the championship I predict it's going to be the same chatter going on now. "Well, Haga ran great that year it should have been his, (insert excuse)".

"Never argue with stupid people, they will sink you to their level and beat you with experience."

Well I don't doubt that he WOULD have gone for it if he hadda been anywhere near. But that's like me saying I'd stick it inside Rossi if I had a chance. Nomatter how true it is, I'm never gonna have that chance.

No worries on the arm. I was actually shocked that he'd never broken one before that when it happened actually, just assumed that he'd had lots. Shit I've had lots of breaks and I'm nowhere near that level.
