Pretty good race, Pedrobot must have just had an oil change because he just took off and was never challenged. Behind him though there was a good scrap for 2nd with Rossi, Lorenzo, and Stoner.
Nicky got a good start and then passed Elias after a few laps, finished one spot behind stoner.

Toseland ignored the drive through penalty for jumping the start and was DQ'd.

Pedrobot does need some software tweaking though, he let Rossi close up 1.2 seconds on the final lap and Rossi made a dive up the inside on the last corner, almost made it but he was just a bit too far back. That would have been very funny.

ya that last lap I was worrying. Pedrosa backed it off more than a second and a half from his earlier pace on that last lap, I was worried he was running out of fuel.

He broke a second gap at about lap 5 and I was like "it's over, you can't give Pedrosa a second gap, you'll not see him till parc ferme."

Wow Dani on top eh? Don't write him off just yet, I've a feeling he's just hitting his stride this season; hopefully he can stay healthy and fit for the rest of the year and give us some good close finishes. Great to see Nicky bag a good finish for once - even though it's Laguna and he could probably ride it blindfolded. Hope can continue with some more decent rides.
WTF was J-T thinking?

That's just a fricken' stupid move.

I don't think he didn't see the flag until more than a lap had gone by, he did come in for a ride thru but it was on his 6th lap since the flat, he was already meatballed, but the meatball was hanging over the other end of the pit wall so even when he came for his ride thru he didn't catch the meatball till the next lap.

I guess that's what happens when you push for just 1 more laps worth of gap before you come in.

Pretty disheartening tho, only 12 bikes finishing, could have gone out there on something I slapped together in the garage and scored some points.

Thought not there yet, I knew if there was a healthy Pedrosa out there, there would eventually be a four way battle for the championship. Also I think a scrap between Pedrosa and Lorenzo would be much greater than a Rossi / Lorenzo scrap.

Rossi seemed in the hunt for the lead anyway .

Given the bad blood between them since their 250 cc days it for sure would be interesting

it'd be interesting if pedrobot was capable of fighting it out, rather than checking out... same as it was for them in 250s

It's someones signature on here but I'll borrow it here.
"If you have to fight fair your plan sucks."

Pedrosa doesn't fight, he just disappears.

Altho iirc they didn't have much for scrapping in 250's 'cause frankly... Pedrosa and Stoner ran away with it and Lorenzo was still learning the bike.

People that count Pedrosa out are always proven wrong but he seems to have a hard time to be consistently winning. Great to see him do well as the championship needs more riders at the front.
Strong ride by Lorenzo considering his injuries but Stoner seems to be off form.
Havent seen the rcae yet so no comments on that but only twelve bikes finishing the race is terrible...

Between Dani and this kid I can't say who is toughest, all I know is that finishing on the podium in this state is damn impressive...

Lorenzo injuries confirmed in Barcelona
Wednesday, 08 July 2009

Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo is expected to ride at the next round in Germany, though he will need painkillers in order manage his discomfort due to his Laguna Seca injuries.

Having returned to Spain from California on Tuesday MotoGP title candidate Jorge Lorenzo underwent medical tests on Wednesday afternoon in Barcelona where his injuries from last Saturday’s Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix qualifying session crash were re-examined.

A CAT scan at a private clinic confirmed the diagnosis of Clinica Mobile from the weekend, with Lorenzo carrying a small fracture in the head of the fourth metatarsal in his right foot, contusions to the bones in both ankles and an ‘acromial clavicular separation’ (collarbone damage) in his right shoulder.

Lorenzo will need to rest up ahead of the next round at Sachsenring where it is expected he will ride after being given further painkilling injections. In the mean time he will be treated with anti-inflammatory medicine and will undergo a course of physiotherapy.

He's been tough all along tho, The impressive part is that he didn't blow his cool when his move didn't work. Kept it buttoned up and came home in the points rather than throwing it away in the next corner in an even crazier move.

It's a distinct break from his approach last year. Hopefully it's a sign that he's actually maturing and isn't just coincidence.

Seems to be a lot of beat up riders out there this year. Dani, Sete, Nicky, Mika, Vermulin, Lorenzo. Have I missed any one who has been injured so far this year? All of these guys are hero's IMHO.

The 800's do seem to me more punishing then the 990's.
Rumours were swirling last week about a possible change back to 990's in a couple years.
