Nakano retires from racing.

Shinya Nakano has quit the WSB Aprilia team and is perhaps quitting racing for good - a sad day for fans of the Japanese rider. Who can forget his last lap, last corner, last race battle with Olivier Jacques for the 250 cc title in 2000 or his 200 mph get off at Mugello in 2004?

See ya Shinya

Sucks bigtime. That last lap at PI in '00 was awesome. I still have a hard time remembering which one of them won that title, just have a memory of those 2 silver bikes crossing the line dead level.

And that tire failure at Mugello.. man oh man, that was a heart in throat moment.

It's a real shame that he's retiring, hopefully he'll be testing for someone.

yea, like less than half a wheel, wide open, it was insanity.

The funny part is that they both were and still are really good friends, very rare do you have a title decided by less than a tenth of a second and the 2 guys are pals.

He is one my all time 250 favourites. Electrifying corner speed and smooth as silk on the bike. He was also rookie of the year and ended fifth on th 500s. I think yamaha made a mistake when they sidestepped him and he ended up at Kawasaki.
Anyway, he raced one of the best looking bikes of all time - the YZR250. :

Next year we'll be saying that we miss all of the 250's.
Thank you Nakano for all your years of entertaining racing.
