250 class World Champions.

Pictures collected by axxexs but I thought the idea was so good I had to post it here.
Some pretty amazing bikes, riders and a great class that Dorna/MSMA etc have butchered.

One of the coolest bikes has to be the 1966 Honda.

that's pretty much the epitomy of Honda (and to a lesser extent, Japanese) design philosophy right there, lol.

And they give us North Americans shit for having a "if more is better, way too much is just enough." philosophy.

Reed in '68 was I think the most influential 250 championship of all time, one of the most important of any class. That was the first real sign that 2-stroke weren't just for 50's. And it was an engine design that was a photocopy of a 125cc East German design that was first produced in '59ish. Using skill saw blades for rotary valves.

HAIL TO THE KING!!

Very cool thread - I never knew that Harley had won a 250cc title but I remember watching Kork Ballington when I was a kid; for some reason he was one of my favourites - I think it was because I liked his name.

there it is. Gotta love the fact that the guy takes an early 80's, completely TC free 500 square 4 GP bike for a spin.... in sandals and a T-shirt, no helmet, on 20 year old bias plys, LMAO. Evidently he's still as crazy as he used to be. I bet his neighbours love him.

You just got to love a guy named Kork that rides the wheels of a motorcycle. That KR500 is a great piece of machinery, the best Kawasaki race bike ever?

no clearly mine is the best Kawasaki race bike ever, LMAO.

Seriously tho I think that one might be, just how it's built it's very clearly a Kawasaki too, they've certainly got their own way of doing shit.

Unfortunatly the motor is a clone of the Suzuki which was a clone of the MZ, s'abit of a photocopy of a photocopy, they sure figured it out quick tho. Kawi have always been really good pipe designers with the 2-strokes.

Kork published an autobiography recently I think, in the last year or 2.
