Edwards replaces Rossi at Fiat Yamaha
It's true - why oh why does Yamaha keep tossing this old dog bones???.
Crutchlow turns down big MotoGP chance
World Superbike star Cal Crutchlow has turned down the chance to make his MotoGP debut as a stand-in rider at the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team.

According to motorcyclenews.com, Colin Edwards is to move back up to the FIAT Yamaha Team (where he rode from 2005-2007) in place of the injured Valentino Rossi from the Catalunya round on July 4th, which in turn means a new rider is needed to take the Texan’s place at Tech 3.
Yamaha’s reigning World Supersport champion Crutchlow was offered the ride, but has no prior MotoGP experience and would have faced a hectic schedule of races as he switched back-and-forth between grand prix and WSBK.
Crutchlow’s team-mate James Toseland would face the same logistical problem, although the Englishman does have two years of Yamaha MotoGP experience with Tech 3 under his belt.
However, if Toseland moved to Tech 3 he would presumably have to work with Edwards’ crew chief Guy Coulon - whom Toseland controversially dropped at the end of 2008 - and JT might also be reluctant to take on Ben Spies without any prior testing of the 2010 YZR-M1, as there would naturally be comparisons made between them.
With Crutchlow out of the equation, and Toseland unlikely, Tech 3 is looking short of suitable options and may end up with a Yamaha test rider.
FIAT Yamaha is expected to confirm Edwards during the British Grand Prix weekend.
Rossi will be out of action until at least Brno, on August 15th, after breaking his leg at Mugello. His team-mate Jorge Lorenzo now leads the world championship by 25 points over Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa heading into this weekend’s Silverstone round.
